The University Academic Board approves the Assessment Regulations for Taught and Research awards. The Assessment Regulations undergo a regular editorial process to ensure they are consistent and accurate.
During 2021/22, the University undertook an extensive review of the regulations for Foundation Degrees, Undergraduate Degrees, Integrated Masters Degrees and Taught Postgraduate (Masters) Regulations in order to reflect changing institutional and national agendas. This led to a small number of changes to the Assessment Regulations.
These revised Assessment Regulations were introduced from 2022/23 on an incremental basis for all new undergraduate students joining the University at levels 3 and 4 from that academic year, Level 3 Foundation Year Students who progressed onto Level 4 from the 2022/23 Academic Year and part-time students who were studying Level 3 and Level 4 prior to the 2022/23 Academic Year.
Following on from this review, during 2022/23, the University undertook a review of the regulations for Higher National (HNC/HND) and Professional Doctorate awards and this led to a small number of changes which will apply to all students on those awards from the 2023/24 Academic Year.
Note: Students who interrupt their course will re-join their course on the Assessment Regulations in place at that time for the cohort they join. Students who are restudying a module or award undertake that restudy under the Assessment Regulations in place at that time for that level for that academic year.
NOTE: Students undertaking Awards by Research can find the relevant regulations under the Research Regulations
